Backery's Receipt

Project Overview

Bakery Receipts is a receipts management app to help employees quickly upload receipts related to business expenses. In addition, the app will help users automatically analyse the expenses in days, months, and years.

This project is my first UX design project for the Google UX Design Professional Certificate program, and its purpose is to guide me through an end-to-end UX design process.

The problem faced by the Bakery is that their employees are unable to manage the receipts related to the expenses of the business due to a lack of time. This can lead to several issues, including delayed or inaccurate record-keeping of expenses, which can ultimately impact the financial health of the business. In addition, the employees may become overwhelmed or stressed by the additional workload, leading to decreased job satisfaction and potentially even staff turnover. Finding a solution to this problem is crucial to ensure that the Bakery's expenses are accurately tracked and managed, and that employees are not overburdened with tasks that may detract from their primary responsibilities.

Design an app for a bakery that enables users to effortlessly upload receipts and automatically analyse expenses.

Understanding the user

I created empathy maps to understand the app's users and identified a group that wants to manage receipts more efficiently.

The user research revealed that clear navigation is crucial for a smooth user flow. Additionally, keeping the app simple enhances its usability.

Lucy is an accountant working for a bakery who needs an app to manage receipts and invoices because she needs to save time and reduce human errors.

Starting the design

I conducted a usability study. Findings from the study helped guide the designs from wireframes to mockups.

1. users need more articles and video resources to learn about healthy meal knowledge.

2. Users want to create more lists so that they can organize collected recipes.

3. users need a place to add comments beside their weekly plan of meals.

Takeaways

During the design process of the Bakery Receipts, I learned that the deeper I understand the user needs, the better design I can deliver. A usability study is important to check the problems of design.
